We spent the day lazily wandering through narrow, cobblestone streets. Laundry and flower boxes made use of the old, intricate iron balconies. We found bakeries, boutiques, candy and flower shops at every turn. I took these pictures at the lovely, quaint shop, Brunell’s Pasteleria.

Valentine pretzel buttons
If you’re looking for a last-minute Valentine treat, here’s a super easy and fast idea. Put a Hershey’s HUG on a square pretzel. Bake in a 200-degree oven for 5-6 minutes, or until chocolate’s soft, then top with a Valentine m&m. Set them fast in your refrigerator.
Eat one or two, then try very hard to ignore them, or send them with your daughter so she can share with her friends.
Moonstruck Chocolates
Sorry guys, I just had to add one more. I’m planning to make more marshmallows in the next few days, but then I’ll get off the candy kick, I promise. :)
Moonstruck Chocolates
Portland, Oregon is famous for lots of reasons; Moonstruck Chocolates just happens to be one of them. In 1993 the founders came up with a concept to hand-create superior chocolates using only the finest ingredients; chocolates that would not only taste exquisite, but be gorgeous to look at, as well. They excelled in both categories. These chocolates have won numerous awards and have caught the eye of some of Hollywood’s leading entertainers.
Moonstruck Chocolates can be found in plenty of upscale Portland shops and boutiques. The real temptation is to visit their Moonstruck Chocolate Cafés sprinkled around our Rose City, where you can enjoy gourmet beverages, chocolates, desserts and a cool place to relax. I found myself shopping next door to one of these cafés this morning and was, as always, lured inside.
Here’s a list of other things that make Portland, Oregon famous:

A whole lot of jelly beans
I made an early morning run to the grocery store and found it almost deserted. The quiet and emptiness gave me the opportunity to be an observer as well as a shopper. I had never noticed how many flavors of Jelly Belly jelly beans are available in bulk.
