Tango Mango

Enough, already.
While so much of the nation is basking in above-normal temperatures, those of us in the Pacific Northwest have been drowning in rain. It’s actually not raining at the moment, but another storm system’s due to blow in again this afternoon.
Here’s some quick lettering I did this morning. And by the way, I realize it’s sort of redundant to write “again” after using the word “more”, but I liked the way it looked. (I justified it as an artistic privilege.)  :)

Here’s some brush work from today. I give a shout out when appropriate – this was inspired by a piece I saw on tumblr a month or so ago by an artist named Barbara Calzolari. I looked through the thread but couldn’t find a link to the source. This spontaneous piece shows my hand, and was not retouched.

Beading and a sketchbook

I have a 4x6-inch Moleskin that I use as a sketchbook to hold all of my sketches and ideas for peyote stitch rings. Different bead color combinations, lists of the people I’ve made them for and the sizes they wear, workshops I’ve attended and held – all are included in this book. It’s small enough to put in my bead box, and it also fits in my purse if I want to sketch on the go.

I like to sketch design ideas in this book almost as much as I like to bead. Almost.

Poj’s sketchbook post inspired this one.
