Hummus
I’m pretty sure I was making hummus before hummus was cool. A friend of mine gave me a cookbook over 20 years ago that included a recipe for it, and even though I had never heard of hummus at the time, it sounded delicious. If you make it yourself you can control the amount of fresh lemon juice (I like my lemony), and use your own good olive oil.

Make this. It's amazing.
My mother visited us over Thanksgiving and was generous beyond belief. One of the nicest things she gave me was a large bag of fresh-picked rosemary from Arizona. This redolent bread is one of my favorite ways to take advantage of it. I use my bread machine to knead the dough, but obviously you wouldn’t need to.

Stuffed shells
This dinner starts with homemade sugo simmering on the stove for 3 hours. Shells are stuffed with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and spinach. Sugo and shells are baked for thirty minutes and served with fresh Italian bread and a big green salad. Welcome to dinner at our house.
